Save Health Care in Washington
Save Health Care in Washington (SHCW) is the grassroots advocacy program of the Community Health Network of Washington. SHCW creates easy ways for concerned Washingtonians to protect and expand affordable health care for every Washington resident. By communicating with policymakers in Olympia, anyone can be a health care advocate! Since 2003, we have mobilized tens of thousands of advocates like you to protect and expand the health care safety net — community health clinics, hospitals and public insurance programs like Medicaid and Basic Health — that are critical to children and families throughout Washington.
Vote No on I-1107 and I-1053
Two initiatives that pose a serious threat to health care funding will be on the November ballot. The American Beverage Association's I-1107 would repeal small, temporary taxes on soda, candy and bottled water, and would cost our state more than $300 million in revenue over the next three years. Tim Eyman's I-1053 would reinstate minority rule in the legislature, requiring a two-thirds vote to increase taxes.
Washington State is already facing a $3 billion deficit. These initiatives would increase the deficit while preventing the legislature from raising revenue to fund health care and other critical services.
We'll need your help defeating these initiatives. Visit www.VoteNo1107.com or www.VoteNo1053.com for more information about how you can get involved.
