Save Health Care in Washington

Save Health Care in Washington (SHCW) is the grassroots advocacy program of the Community Health Network of Washington. SHCW creates easy ways for concerned Washingtonians to protect and expand affordable health care for every Washington resident. By communicating with policymakers in Olympia, anyone can be a health care advocate! Since 2003, we have mobilized tens of thousands of advocates like you to protect and expand the health care safety net — community health clinics, hospitals and public insurance programs like Medicaid and Basic Health — that are critical to children and families throughout Washington.

Decline to Sign Initiative 1107

Now is our chance to stop this anti-health care, anti-education initiative before it even makes it onto the November ballot.

I-1107 would strip critical state funding for health care and education, lead to deep cuts to critical services for seniors and kids, and slash other core services.  It is heavily funded by the national beverage industry, and would repeal small, mostly temporary taxes on soda pop, candy, gum, and bottled water — e.g. 2 cents per bottle of water or can of soda.

The initiative would cost hundreds of millions in lost revenue over the next two years, and would lead to further deep cuts to basic health care and K-12 education programs.
